About the Chairman
Winston Clapper has been researching cruise ships since March 2016. On 31 July 2021, he founded the CSTHA, whose mission has always been studying the evolution and progression of cruise ship design and construction over time. On 21 January 2022, he adjusted the organization's mission to include data relating to ships in service, as that can determine the success of a design or aspects thereof. He made this change in order to permit better collaboration with the two board members inducted on that date. In August of that year, the other board members elected him Chairman, trusting him to lead the group to further success. His subsequent Project Phoenix program solidified in the minds of all concerned that he was the right choice, making moves that would push the organization into new territory. While initially met with extreme skepticism from his peers, this ended up being a turning point for the CSTHA, which has led to the present-day archive being unparalleled anywhere in the world. Lauded as 'brilliant' and 'optimistic,' he manages the CSTHA out of Seattle, Washington, with wisdom and experience beyond his years.
