Welcome!

22 September 2023

This website has been up now for more than a year, and in that time, we have expanded our collection by over 100%.  Our team of highly skilled and extraordinarily dedicated researchers has shown an exceptional level of commitment to our mission.  Our initial goal was to help offset the lack of existing documentation for the ocean liners of last century by preserving the blueprints, manuals, and CAD structural and system models for the great passenger ships of the modern age.  We have now greatly expanded that to include all modern cruise ships, from the 1970s to the present day, and are in the process of researching a potential expansion into the ferry business as well.

Our archive continues to grow, and so does the amount of items available to the public via our "Archive" page.  All material obtained for ships in service is protected and not released until after the last ship of that class has been removed from service.  The safety and security of the cruise ships we here all love so much is our number one priority.

The concept for the CSTHA came about in mid-2021, when several of us came together and realized that ocean liner blueprints are largely inaccessible.  This is due to age, fragility, missing documentation, long lead times, and high costs of archival procurement.  To avoid having a similar predicament in the next century, we agreed to form this organization to collect, arrange, and provide plans and manuals for ships once they are well out of service.

Our team consists of naval architects, deck and engineering officers, ship surveyors, and cruise ship enthusiasts with extensive knowledge of the design, construction, and operation of cruise ships.  Their experience has aided us in providing only the highest quality of reliable information on this site for your enjoyment.  Please note that the statistics listed are for the ships as built, since our main focus is on the design and construction of these impressive vessels.  Changes are noted in the timeline under the dates of the refit which caused them.

Please feel free to send us a message - the Contact Us page has our email address, and we are quick to reply to all inquiries.  If you represent a cruise line, shipyard, classification society, or flag state, and your organization is interested in a quote, please ensure the subject line contains the word "quote" and the name of your organization.  We can offer secure technical storage solutions for half of your current costs, and we can send files deposited with us within 24 hours after requested.  For security reasons, we are only able to reply to quote requests sent from official company email addresses.

Thank you!

Today, we unveiled the "Archive" page on this site.  This has two separate listings, one for ocean liners and one for cruise ships.  We have listed the majority of the plans we are able to provide digital copies of, but please reach out if you have a specific ship you're looking for, as our entire collection has yet to be sorted and listed.

We are currently in discussions with a few cruise lines regarding acquisition of their technical materials.  We would love to have your organization as a partner in our mission - please feel free to contact me personally at wclapper@cstha.org and I will be more than happy to work with you!  The CSTHA is extremely flexible to fit within your needs, enabling you to focus on the future while we safeguard your history.

Thank you!

As a small organization, we are able to provide more personalized service and a greater customer experience compared to a larger company.  We have the collective passion and knowledge of a much larger organization, epitomized in the quote that best represents us:

"Quantity is something you count; quality is something you count on"

What we lack in experience, we make up for through our quality and efficiency of our organization.  A larger group might tend to lose efficiency, whereas we keep our team of highly-knowledgeable ship experts small.  This also has the added benefit that far fewer individuals have access to your company's secure information, although all of our team members are under NDAs for the entirety of our database.

In addition to storage for your current technical materials, we are now branching out to offer permanent storage solutions for outdated items as well.  As the CSTHA studies primarily the design and construction of passenger ships, and especially the evolution thereof, we are poised to offer these services at astonishing value to you, the client.  All technical material provided to us from official industry organizations will not be released until all ships of the type are out of service, and only then with specific written permission from the organization which provided the items.

The CSTHA team sincerely hopes you choose us for your full technical storage needs!

Winston M. Clapper, Chairman of the Executive Board
