1 October 2004 Contract signed between Meyer Werft and AIDA Cruses for two new "Project

Sphinx" cruise ships, to be completed in 2007 and 2009, respectively. 

AIDAluna was to follow AIDAdiva as the second of these ships.

26 May 2005 Keel laid for Meyer Werft newbuilding 660.

6 October 2008 Float out of S.660 from the building dock.

16 March 2009 Meyer Werft completes S.660 for AIDA Cruises, at a total cost of US $390 million.

She is the first AIDA ship with an open-air cinema, with a 7.17m x 4.03m LED

sceen which contains over 186000 individual LED lights.

22 March 2009 Start of maiden voyage from Hamburg, Germany, to Palma de Mallorca, Spain.

4 April 2009 Christening of AIDAluna by German model Franziska Knuppe.

3 April 2019 Start of first refit, which involved a general refresh of her public rooms and the

addition of an Alpine lodge-themed eatery.  On the technical side, she was

fitted with equipment to enable her to go "cold iron" in port.
