Timeline

30 January 1997

Fincantieri S.p.A. is contracted by Carnival Cruise Line to build a new cruise ship, a second unit of the modified Carnival Destiny class, and a structural twin sister to Carnival Triumph.


26 June 1998

The first block of yard number 6045 is laid down in the building dock at Fincantieri's Monfalcone yard in Italy.


31 December 1998

Carnival Victory is floated out of the construction dock.


28 July 2000

Fincantieri S.p.A. delivers Carnival Victory to Carnival Cruise Line.  The new ship is valued at $430,000,000.


18 August 2000

Mary Frank christens Carnival Victory.


15 October 2000

Carnival Victory departs on her inaugural cruise.
