Contract signed for the construction of Meyer Werft GmbH yard number S.692, at a cost of €529,846,154. This contract was dependent on Norwegian Cruise Line's ability to finance the project, which was an ongoing process at the time.

NCL Corporation Ltd., Breakaway Two Ltd., and a five-bank consortium led by KfW IPEX-Bank signed an agreement to finance the second of a new class of cruise ships for Norwegian Cruise Line, dubbed "Project Breakaway."

Norwegian Cruise Line, through their subsidiary Breakaway Two Ltd., takes delivery of Norwegian Getaway. The ship was reportedly worth €529,846,154 at the time of her delivery, in keeping with the contract value.
