Letter of Intent signed between Meyer Werft GmbH and Breakaway One Ltd., a subsidiary of NCL Corporation Ltd.


26 October 2010

Contract signed for the construction of Meyer Werft GmbH yard number S.678, at a cost of 529,846,154.  This contract was dependent on Norwegian Cruise Line's ability to finance the project, which was an ongoing process at the time.


18 November 2010

NCL Corporation Ltd., Breakaway One Ltd., and a five-bank consortium led by KfW IPEX-Bank signed an agreement to finance the first of a new class of cruise ships for Norwegian Cruise Line, dubbed "Project Breakaway."

The first block of newbuilding S.678 is laid down in Hall 2 at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany.

Norwegian Breakaway is floated out of Hall 2 at Meyer Werft, bow first.

Norwegian Cruise Line, through their subsidiary Breakaway One Ltd., takes delivery of Norwegian Breakaway.  The ship was reportedly worth 529,846,154 at the time of her delivery, in keeping with the contract value.

Norwegian Breakaway departs on an overnight preview cruise across the English Channel, from Eemshaven, The Netherlands, to Southampton, England.

Norwegian Breakaway sets sail on her maiden voyage, a transatlantic crossing from Southampton, England, to her new homeport of New York City, USA.
