Contract signed between Meyer Werft and AIDA Cruises for two new ships.  The first would be roughly the same size and specifications as S.680 (AIDAblu), and the second would be of an entirely new design.  S.695 was completed in 2013 as AIDAstella.

Keel laid for newbuilding 696.


21 August 2018

Float out of S.696 from Dockhalle 6 to the fitting out berth.


31 August 2018

Naming ceremony in Papenburg, Germany.  AIDAnova was the first cruise ship in over 20 years to be named there.


16 November 2018

Sea trials began.


30 November 2018

Newbuild 696 was completed at a total cost of US $950 million.


12 December 2018

The ship was delivered to AIDA Cruises.


19 December 2018

Start of maiden voyage.
