Norwegian Dawn Ltd. and Meyer Werft GmbH sign a contract for the construction of the second Libra-class Panamax cruise ship, yard number S.649.

Steel cutting ceremony for S.649.


1 June 2002

Norwegian Dawn is floated out of the construction hall at Meyer Werft.  She was the first ship laid down in the new, larger building hall at the German yard.


3 December 2002

Meyer Werft GmbH delivered Norwegian Dawn to Norwegian Dawn Ltd., a subsidiary of Norwegian Cruise Line.  The ship was valued at $450,000,000 at the time of her completion.


7 December 2002

Norwegian Dawn departed on her inaugural cruise.


16 December 2002

Kim Cattrall named Norwegian Dawn in an official ceremony.
