Timeline

12 October 2012

NCL Corporation Ltd., Breakaway Three Ltd., and a banking consortium led by KfW IPEX-Bank signed an agreement to finance the first of the enlarged Breakaway class ships.  The loan was valued at 590,478,870, and Norwegian Cruise Line would front the remainder of the ship's total construction cost.


17 October 2012

Contract signed between Meyer Werft GmbH and Breakaway Three Ltd. for the construction of Meyer Werft yard number S.693, at a cost of 698,400,000.  The loan secured five days prior covered around 84.5% of this value.


20 March 2014

Steel cutting ceremony for S.693.  She was a larger variant of the baseline Norwegian Breakaway platform, with an extra deck of balcony cabins, among other changes.


19 September 2014

The first block of S.693 is lowered onto the keel blocks in Hall 2 at Meyer Werft.


17 August 2015

Norwegian Escape is floated out of Hall 2 at Meyer Werft, stern first.


22 October 2015

Norwegian Cruise Line, through their subsidiary Breakaway Three Ltd., takes delivery of Norwegian Escape.  The ship was worth 698,400,000 at the time of her delivery, in keeping with the contract value.


23 October 2015

Norwegian Escape departs on her maiden voyage.


9 November 2015

Norwegian Escape is christened by Pitbull, a rapper from Florida.
