17 December 2008 Contract signed between Meyer Werft and AIDA Cruises for two new ships. The
first would be roughly the same size and specifications as S.680 (AIDAblu),
and the second would be of an entirely new design. The second ship would
eventually be completed in 2018 as AIDAnova.
17 December 2008 Keel laid for newbuilding 695.
25 January 2013 S.695 floated out from building hall to fitting out berth.
11 March 2013 Meyer Werft completes the US $400 million S.695. She features a new
eco-friendly ballast water system, as well as a real birch forest (in keeping
with the Nordic and Scandinavian theme of her interiors).
16 March 2013 Christening in Warnemunde, Germany, of AIDAstella by no less than 10
godmothers, 8 from AIDA and 2 from Meyer Werft.
17 March 2013 Start of maiden voyage from Warnemunde, Germany.
3 March 2018 Start of first refit, a brief drydocking in Dubai, UAE, for remodeling of select
public rooms.
8 March 2018 End of first refit.
